Ovarian stimulation (in vitro fertilization) and monitoring is followed by aspirating the oocytes outside the body through a needle into the vagina guided by US. The oocytes are kept in a controlled environment within the incubator in the laboratory with appropriate temperature, oxygen,carbon dioxide tension and all necessary elements. Certain number of selected and prepared husband’s sperm are added to each oocyte to be fertilized . The next morning the oocytes are checked for signs of fertilization and left to grow further into early embryonic growth as division into 2,4,8,16….cells takes place . At the proper time ( day 2 to 5) embryo transfer of the best 2-3 embryos takes place into the wife’s uterus.
